US Flights: Stricter security controls
At some German airports, there will be longer waiting periods for USA flights. As a result, Lufthansa is adapting its check-in times.
As of now, tighter security controls will be applied for all departures to the USA. Passengers should anticipate longer waiting times. Electronic devices may potentially be subject to security inspections, but can still be carried in the cabin.
This has prompted Lufthansa to adjust check-in closing times for all intercontinental flights at the Frankfurt, Munich, and Düsseldorf airports:
- First and business-class guests: 40 minutes before departure
- Premium Economy and Economy Class guests: 60 minutes before departure
Check-in closing times will not change for intercontinental flights from Brussels, Geneva, Cologne-Bonn, Vienna and Zurich, or for flights within the continent of Europe. The Minimum Connecting Times at Lufthansa Group hubs will also remain unchanged at this time. We recommend travelers to arrive at the airport early for long-haul flights! For flights to the USA from Zurich, SWISS recommends its passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before departure.
